Service Overview
Traditional cremation is very similar to traditional burial. The difference is that following the funeral, the deceased is transferred to the crematorium instead of the procession going to the cemetery. We have the only crematorium in West Central Alberta, so there is no third-party involvement and no extra mileage charges.
What this service includes
- Full funeral service with visitation
- Our own crematorium, the only one in West Central Alberta
- No third-party involvement and no extra mileage charges
- Urns, keepsake jewellery and memorial cards
- Guidance on burial, columbarium or scattering
You can have a full funeral service even for those choosing cremation. Planning a personalized ceremony or service will help begin the healing process. Overcoming the pain is never easy, but a meaningful funeral or tribute will help.
Because Foothills Crematorium is the only crematorium in West Central Alberta, families in Edson, Hinton, Jasper, Grande Cache, Whitecourt and the surrounding area never pay for a third party or extra mileage. Usually, cremated remains are placed in an urn before being committed to a final resting place, and we can help you choose an urn, keepsake jewellery and memorial cards.
Our Process of Care
Receiving your loved one into our care
Day or night, we arrange the transfer of your loved one into our care and make sure the documentation that goes with it is completed.
Meeting with your funeral director
We set an arrangement time that works for your family, in Edson, in Hinton or in your own home, and guide you through each decision without obligation.
The funeral service
A funeral service followed by cremation need not be any different from a funeral service followed by a burial.
Cremation at Foothills Crematorium
Your loved one stays in our care. Cremation takes place at our own crematorium in Edson, with no third party involved.
Final resting place
The urn may be buried, placed in a columbarium or interred in a cemetery urn garden, or the remains may be scattered according to provincial law.
Paperwork handled for you
We register the death with Vital Statistics, obtain the death certificate and burial permits, notify Canada Pension Plan and help apply for the CPP Death Benefit and Survivor Benefit where applicable.
We are here for you, 24/7
