Apprentice Funeral Director

Born and raised in Edson, Abby first showed interest in the profession at the age of 14, when she came to the conclusion she wanted to help but had no desire to be a doctor or nurse. When she was 16, she joined her school’s work experience program for a few months to help decide if she really enjoyed the career.

In the summer of 2025 she graduated from Parkland Composite High School and enrolled in college for the following school year. During this time she began working at Edson Funeral Home part-time, eventually moving to full-time. In her downtime Abby enjoys taking long walks around town and in the bush, both alone and with her sister. She loves drawing, poetry and looking after her aquariums.

Abby is expected to graduate from the Canadian College of Funeral Service by 2027 and earn her funeral directing and embalming license.

Our Chapel, Visitation Room
& Crematorium

Our 5,000 square foot Edson building houses a chapel, a visitation room, an arrangement office, a casket and urn display room and Foothills Crematorium. In Hinton, our office at 144 Swanson Drive serves families west to Jasper and north to Grande Cache.

Foothills Crematorium is the only crematorium in West Central Alberta, so there is no third-party involvement and no extra mileage charges. If you wish to discuss pre-arrangements, call us and we can arrange a meeting in your home or at our office in either Edson or Hinton, without any obligation on your part.
