Valerie (Val) Frances (Lenglet) Guenette

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Valerie (Val) Frances Guenette, who left us peacefully on February 8, 2026, at the age of 74. Even in her final days, she carried the same quiet strength and gentle warmth that defined her life.

Born to Elmer (Duke) and Gladys Lenglet in 1951, Val grew up surrounded by the love and laughter of a close-knit family. Her bond with her brothers and sisters—Mel, Dick, John, and Joan—was something she treasured deeply. Those early years shaped her into the woman she became steady, kind, and always ready to show up for the people she loved.

Val was a devoted wife, a proud and loving mother, and a grandmother whose heart had room for everyone. She is survived by her sons, Greg Guenette (wife Dhanell) and Ross Guenette (partner Jacquie); and by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Jordin (wife Stephanie), Caiden, Isabella, Hudson, Emily, Roan, Ava, Jace, and Cole. Each of them carries a piece of her—her humour, her gentleness, her stubborn streak, her love.

Those who knew Val will remember her for the small, beautiful things: the way she listened without judgment, the way she made a house feel like home, the way she could turn an ordinary moment into a memory simply by being present. She had a gift for making people feel seen and cared for, whether through a warm meal, a shared story, or a quiet moment at the kitchen table.

Her life was woven with love, resilience, and deep family ties. She leaves behind a legacy that lives not only in the stories we tell, but in the way she shaped us—teaching us to be patient, to be kind, and to hold each other close.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the countless lives she touched with her gentle spirit.

A private memorial will be held to honour Val’s life—a time for those who loved her to gather, to remember, and to celebrate the woman who meant so much to so many.
