Duncan Marshall Gilding passed away peacefully at the Edson Hospital in Edson, Alberta, on January 30th, 2026.
Duncan was born in Bramley, Yorkshire, England, and raised in Featherstone, Yorkshire, England. In 1971, he and his family emigrated to Grande Cache, Alberta, in search of a new adventure in life. The majority of his working life was spent in the coal mining industry, first as an underground miner and later as an OHS mines inspector for the Alberta Government. Duncan also volunteered with mine rescue for many years.
Duncan will forever be remembered by his wife of 65 years, Christine (Watson), and his 3 children; Paul (Connie) and their children Tory, Austin, Brayden, and Dawson; Alison Rogers (Murray) and their children Matthew (Kaitlyn) and Stephanie; and Helena (Shawn) and their children Jason (Sherry) and Christine; his great-grandchildren Aurora, Branden, Kaiya, Elijah, and Evan; his sister Doreen Robinson and his extended family in England.
Duncan was pre-deceased by his mother, Elizabeth, his sisters Margaret and Jean and his stepbrother Harry.
