Victoria Vogrincic née Huber 2/23/1930 - 3/28/2014
Victoria died peacefully in hospital at the age of 84. Predeceased by parents Anna and Franz and her beloved husband Anton.
Victoria will be lovingly remembered by daughter Tanya, sons Tony and Gerry (Cecile), sister Mila, sister-in-law Netka, cousin Angela and many life-long friends here and abroad.
Victoria was born in Cankova, Slovenia. She went to Austria and worked in a hotel before emigrating to Canada in 1955 to marry Anton, who was by then working for CN Rail. The couple lived in Pedley, Miette, Galloway, Hargwen, Hinton, and Jasper before settling in the larger town of Edson to raise their three children. Victoria enjoyed gardening, reading, baking, and, in later years, reminiscing about life in the wilderness, which included defending her toddlers -- and laundry -- from inquisitive bears! Victoria was a kind and compassionate woman who was very involved in Catholic charities, putting together numerous care packages for children in the Philippines.
The family would like to thank all of Victoria's friends and neighbours for their support and visits since Anton's death in 2005. Special thanks to Dr. Robinson and medical student Jarritt Seeman, neighbour Matilda, hospital nurse Barbara Ludwig, nurse practitioner Marilyn Oishi, and home care nurse Dana.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was held in Edson, followed by interment at Holy Cross Mausoleum. Father Roger Keeler, Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Victoria's favourite children's charity, www.chalice.ca ("Chalice", Suite 1, 445 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, B4C 2S1) would be appreciated.
Condolences can be sent online to the family through the link www.edsonfuneralhome.com.
