DEARING, Valeria Grace (Linton)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Valeria on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the age of 87 years.
Valeria was born on September 18, 1929 in Islay, Alberta to Alex and Lucille Linton. She was the fourth oldest child of six. The Linton family farmed in the Islay-Kitscoty area and the children either walked to school or rode a horse. Shortly after graduating, Valeria went on to pursue nursing in Edmonton in 1948, shortly thereafter she met Bill Hilliard and married him on September 10, 1950. Together they had two sons, Barry who was born January 6, 1953 and Gerald who was born November 17, 1954. As a family they moved around from Lloydminster to Edmonton to Hay River, N.W.T. and from there to Lac la Biche and then to Decatur, Illinois in 1964 where she worked as a caregiver. Valeria returned back to the Lloydminster area in 1973 where she continued her work as a caregiver. She continued as a caregiver to her parents until their passing.
Valeria is survived by her two sons, Barry (Donna) Hilliard and Gerald (Stella) Hilliard; her four grandsons, Ken Hilliard, Jason (Angie) Hilliard, Dale (Christina) Hilliard and Little Barry Hilliard; her five great grandchildren; her brother Perry Linton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Alex (1984) and Lucille (1983) Linton, her husbands Bill Hilliard (1987), Richard Dearing (1980) and Fred Spence (1991); her three brothers, Wayne, Beecher, and Russel Linton and her sister Alexia.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 pm in the Foothills Memorial Chapel, Edson with Reverend Kimberly Roy officiating. A graveside service will be held in Lloydminster, AB at a later date.
