GAUTHIER, Sophia (Sophie)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Sophie Gauthier on January 31st, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Sophie is survived by her sister Anne Sokoloski, her children Kathy Gardner of Edson, Donna (Dennis) Roman of Edson, Mike (Kim) Gauthier of Edson, Theresa Gauthier of Edson, Patty (Ruben) Brehmer of Grande Prairie, Tom Gauthier of Edson, Peter Gauthier of Grande Prairie, Joanne (Mark) Gauthier of Edson, David Gauthier of Edson and Dianne (Kevin) Pozobut of Edson. There are 26 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends left to mourn her passing.
Sophie was a vibrant and active member of the community. She loved to travel, was a member of many committees and clubs and welcomed many others into her family circle. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Flavian in 1972, her parents George and Donnie Warwaruk, her brother Bill Warwaruk, sisters Olga Borowski and Mary Dolanz as well as son-in-law Blaine Gardner. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 7th, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Edson with a luncheon to follow. Cremation has taken place. The family suggests donations be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 10985 – 124 Street, Edmonton, T5M 0H9, The Edson Senior’s Pioneer Cabin, 4836 – 7th Ave. T7E 1K8 or to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Sophie Gauthier.
