WILLETTS, Shirley Olga
On March 7th, 2013, Shirley Olga Willetts of Whitecourt, Alberta passed away peacefully.
Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, her sister Lillian and her children: son James and Emma Willetts and family of Paddle Prairie, Alberta, daughter Valerie Willetts and Les Gee of Vancouver, British Columbia, daughter Robin and Bill Braidwood and family of Delta, British Columbia, son Miles and Suzette Willetts and family of White Rock, British Columbia, son Thomas and Kala Willetts and family of Alberta and son Joseph Willetts and family of Shining Bank, Alberta. She loved fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Vonda Kuilboer, nieces and nephews and several other much loved relatives and a host of friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Donovan on July 26th, 2010, her parents Karl and Helen Skare and her brother Alfred Skare.
Shirley was a lively, generous and kind person who lived her life with caring for others as her cornerstone. She was quick–witted and bright and loved a good laugh, ideally shared with those she cared about. Shirley cared about many in the communities where she lived as well as her family and extended family – she had a kind word for everyone. She was an Alberta girl and grew up in the days of pioneers and the Wild West–she was very proud of that and she loved the Alberta rose.
After the death of Don, she bravely found her way to live a different life although she missed her home on the farm, her flowers and the country life. She’s home again now; may she rest in peace.
Funeral services for Shirley Olga Willetts took place on Monday, March 11th, 2013 with Pastor George Stone officiating and interment followed in the Shining Bank Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, if desired, the family suggests donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, 10985 – 124 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T5M 0H9 in memory of Shirley Olga Willetts.
