WILLIAMS, Ronald
On Sunday, April 9, 2017, Ronald Lester Williams, “Rocket”, passed away peacefully at the age of 64 years old.
Ron will always be remembered by his loving wife of 35 years, Mary, who was holding his hand when he passed away. He leaves behind his sons, Adam (Jaylene) and Drew (Carissa); his brothers Ken (Myrna), and their children Ryan and Ashleigh; Al (Chris), and their children Kim and Brent; his best friends, Brent and Gwen Fellows; his brother-in-law Sam and his daughter Hailey; his nieces and nephews, Sherry (Quentin) French and their daughters Abby and Emily; Shaun (Nicole) Fellows and their children Keegan, Tye, Reed; Raya, Zac (Krista) and their sons Zander and Zaxxon; and Scott (Angie).
Ron was predeceased by his father Len and his mother Gladys.
Born in Edmonton on January 15, 1953, Ron moved to Hinton when he was three years old. He was a diehard Edmonton Oilers fan and, in his final days, one of his greatest joys was seeing the Oilers return to the post-season after a 10-year absence. Ron was a man who could fix anything and taught his sons the value of hard work. He had a quiet strength and could always make his family laugh on their camping trips, games nights and at birthday parties. He loved nothing more than a rum and coke, a hockey game and an evening with his boys. His dependable advice and boundless wit will be missed. Even in the final days of his two-year battle with lung cancer, he could light up the room with his smile. His family knew him as Superman throughout his treatment ‑ it was a life well lived.
Rocket was remembered in a quiet get-together last week, with his family donning their Oilers jerseys, sipping on rum and cokes and watching the Edmonton Oilers take on the San Jose Sharks. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Ron to the Hinton Community Cancer Centre of the Hinton Health Care Foundation.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.
