Robert Gunner

GUNNER, Robert John

Robert (Bob) John Gunner would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus: a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be gardening, cooking, and making willow furniture to his heart’s content. Pranks, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. He left detailed instructions for his wife and children to celebrate his mission here, which will be completed this spring with a tree planting ceremony. Bob has weaved his way into many lives near and far, so low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated.

Bob, born on May 2, 1952 in to the City of Toronto, passed away suddenly in his home in the Fulham, Alberta region on January 30, 2017 at age 64.

The ‘Old Fella’ who was best known for his mischievous antics is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Josie Gunner (Kistenfeger); his beloved daughters, Carmen (Kevin) Malo, Erin (Rick) Penner, Brynn (Neil) Hosmer, and Andrea Gunner; and his grandchildren, Brendon, Breea, Lawson, Leah, River, Lachlan and Sebastian.

Let us also not forget his treasured Massey tractor. For years to come, we will continue to find his hidden pranks around the homestead and remember how he made us laugh with wry gags and jokes. He will be forever missed, especially his favourite parting comment, “Let’s make like a Hippie, and blow this joint.”
