Patricia Geinger
1941-2021
On July 8, 2021, Patty saddled up and rode off into the morning sun and climbed God’s golden stairway to Heaven’s gate.
Patty was raised on the ranch north of Sangudo where she fell in love with the western way of life. The horses, cattle, the land, and the great outdoors. In 1980, Patty, Rick and Harley moved to peers and bought a little piece of Heaven and developed it into an eye-catching beauty.
Patty loved her garden and flowers and grew these amazing giant sunflowers which impressed all who visited. Once rodeo season started, Patty hit the rodeo trail, you could always find her most days down by the barn or in the arena training horses. She bought a beautiful Doc-Bar Stud and began raising some quality colts which she started and trained from babies to finish. Patty was a two-time WRA Barrel Racing Champion and won numerous trophies and buckles.
She won not on one horse, but many different horses. A sign of a true horse woman. When she was not competing, Patty and her sister spent countless hours riding, training colts in the bush and rode their own secret trails.
Patty and Rick were able to get away after Rick retired and go trail riding to many different locations; Sand Hills, Panther River, Cadomin… to name a few.
She also helped coach and train up several young people who also had a passion for horses. A life filled with horses, family, and friends. “If you have a gift, share it, enjoy it and be grateful for all you have been blessed with. Happy trails and see you on the ridge.”
Patty is survived by her son Harley Geinger, of Peers, AB, sister Barbara Smoole, of Edson, niece Jill Craig, of Ponoka, and cousin Donna Smoole, of Sun City, Arizona.
Patty was predeceased by her partner Richard Larison of 42 years, her father Floyd Smoole, mother Margaret Smoole, and brother Misty Smoole.
No service will be held as per Patty’s request.
For those who wish, the family asks any memorial donations, be paid forward by helping a kid pay his entry fee for rodeo or help a single mom or senior out.
Special Thank-You to Dr. Joanne Robinson, the homecare team and nurses at the Edson Healthcare center for their kindness, and caring blessings towards Patty and our family during this time.
