GIOVOS, Olga
On March 30th, 2013, Olga Giovos of Edson, Alberta, beloved wife of Tom passed away suddenly at the age of 56 years.
In addition to her loving husband Tom, Olga is survived by her sons Alex and George and daughter Katerina and granddaughter Georgia Alexis all of Edson, Alberta.
Olga Giovos was a humble woman born and raised in a small village up in the mountains of Greece. Whether she was herding goats, waitressing, cooking, or teaching children Greek, she always did it with a smile and was the heart and cornerstone of her family. She was an inspiration and an example to all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her work ethic and devotion to friends, family and God was unmatched, she constantly loved and suffered in service of others without ever complaining. She never forgot her roots and continued to help those less fortunate throughout her life. She was always happy till the day she died, On March 11, 2013 she became a YaYa with the addition of the newest Giovos baby and another happy (albeit short) chapter of her life began. Her husband of 30 yrs Tom and three children George, Alex and Katerina will forever miss their beautiful and always smiling mom.
Also surviving are her siblings; Jimmy (Christina) Vangelakos and family of Edson, Alberta, Vicky (George) Beis and family and Aglaia (Peter) Poulios and family of Grande Cache, Alberta, Maria Vangelakou and family of Edson, Alberta and Vangelia Argiros and family of Calgary, Alberta. There are numerous other relative and friends left to mourn.
Funeral services took place on Friday, April 5th, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson with Father Constantinos Economos officiating. Interment followed in the Glenwood Cemetery, Edson.
