SHOWALTER, Nancy Lou

On Dec. 15, 2015, Nancy Lou Showalter went home to be with Jesus, whom she adored. She was much loved by her family, many friends and staff at Edson Continuing Care. As a widow for 24 years and struggling with some health problems, she remained cheerful and content, trusting her life with the Lord. She often said, “This too shall pass” and now it has!!

Nancy was born in Ohio in 1926 and married Paul Showalter in 1949. They pastored Edson Mennonite Church from 1962 to 1971, until they moved to Grande Prairie. In 1985, they started doing volunteer carpenter work for missions across the US, and also in France and Australia, until Paul’s tragic death in 1991. Then Nancy lived with her daughter, Carolyn until she moved into Edson Continuing Care in 2013.

Nancy is survived by her 5 children, Carolyn (George) Stone of Niton Junction, AB, Jim (Linda) Showalter of Indianapolis, Indiana, Maggie (Dale) Moffat of Niton Junction, AB, Wayne (Dar) Showalter of Tucson, Arizona and Beth Showalter of Tucson , Arizona, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, Janette Stone, Darrel (Sara) Stone with Ben and Brianna, Dan Stone and his family, Tim Stone, Wes Stone, Karen (Matthew) Miller with Guen and Anya, Brian ( Lisa) Showalter with Julian, Jordy (Carla) Moffat with Anya, Kaelyn, Rory and Sancho, Ronda (Shane) Vanderkooi with Jenay, Clara and Ryland, Ann (Michael) Sitvarin and Laura (Jason) Katterhenry.

There was a celebration of her life at the Edson Bethel Pentecostal Church on Dec. 19, 2015 at 1 pm, her son-in-law, Pastor George Stone officiating. A private family burial was held prior to the service.
