ROCCHIO, Lucia (Lucy)
Lucia (Lucy) Rocchio (nee Ballarin) was born January 23, 1918 in Edson, Alberta and passed away October 14, 2010 in Tisdale Saskatchewan. In 1937 she married Tony Rocchio in Cadomin and they lived on the Coal Branch until 1955 when they moved to Edson. Lucy worked in Edson as a waitress, store clerk and building caretaker until she retired at 81 when she relocated to Tisdale, Saskatchewan to be closer to her daughter.
Lucy’s greatest joy was her family and extended family. She enjoyed her trips to Italy, her cruise to Alaska and numerous bus trips. She particularly enjoyed the many “Coal Branchers” who stopped by for coffee and a visit.
She leaves to mourn her passing daughter Penny (Howard) Haugen, grandchildren Shelly (Keith) Rocchio, Andrea Rocchio, Toni Haugen & her daughter Alyssa, Raymond (Nancy) Haugen, Barbara (Pat) Munholland & their children Cassidy & Jenny. Lucy will be missed by nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and new friends in Tisdale.
She was predeceased by her husband Tony in 1968, mother Anita Raffin in 1977 and her son Andrew in 1982.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson with Father Andrew Lukasewicz presiding She was laid to rest beside her husband and son in the Glenwood cemetery, Edson, Alberta.
