Mr. Lorry Glenn Sutton of Robb, Alberta, passed away suddenly on June 22, 2023, in Edson, Alberta, at the age of 64. He was born on February 14, 1959, in Athabasca, Alberta. Lorry grew up in Athabasca with his parents Alfred & Georgina, and big brothers William and Gary.
Lorry met Dana in Robb while he was working in the area, and it was “love at first sight”. They started their relationship and moved to Nordegg, Alberta, to start their lives together. After buying a home they were ready to start a family. Lorry and Dana welcomed Hayley Marie Sutton on January 21 2003, then Hayden Alfred Sutton on February 13, 2005. Just after Hayley’s arrival, Lorry’s daughter Brittney came to live with them as well. Lorry and family lived in Nordegg until 2010.
During his time in Nordegg, Lorry worked for Pour Boys Water Hauling, as well as doing environmental clean-up on well sites. In his spare time, he completed landscaping in the Shunda sub-division. Dana’s passion for the Fire Department drew Lorry in, and Lorry also spent 5 years as a captain on the Nordegg Volunteer Fire Department.
It was time for a change, and with that Lorry applied at Coal Valley Mine. Lorry was successful in his application and started on April 9, 2009, as a truck driver, followed by a dozer operator and then pump person. After a year of commuting back and forth, Lorry moved the family to Robb.
While in Robb, Lorry liked to spend his free time around the campfire. Camping, quadding and curling in the winter were also among his favorite past times.
In 2019 Lorry was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He completed treatment and finally in June of 2023 he was cleared to return to regular life and work. He was so happy! Lorry always had a smile on his face, he lived every day for his family & doggies (Sophie, Bella & Otis).
He was a loving husband and father.
Lorry is survived by his wife Dana of 23 years, daughter Brittney (Brent), and grandchildren Jaxon & Arwyn, daughter Hayley (Ben), son Hayden, and his father and mother-in-law Fred and Donna.
Lorry was predeceased by his parents and both siblings.
Celebration of Life for Lorry will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 1:00pm at the Robb Multiplex, in Robb, Alberta.
Following the Service there will be a gathering for family and friends at the Multiplex.
