It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Marie Caruth, who left us far too soon at the age of 61 on April 17th, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, after a courageous and brief battle with cancer.
Born on December 30th, 1963, in Edmonton, Joyce was the beloved daughter of Barbara Ellen Grycak and the late John Grycak. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter and carried that spirit with her throughout her life.
On August 24th, 1991, Joyce married the love of her life, Douglas Caruth, in Edson, Alberta. Together, they built a life filled with deep love, joy, and unwavering devotion to each other and their family. Joyce was a proud and loving mother to Cassidy (Kori) and Jodi (Eric), and a cherished grandmother to Brett, Olivia, Maddie, and Harper.
Joyce’s greatest joys came from the simple moments shared with her loved ones—vacationing, camping, sitting around the fire, celebrating life with her family, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a light in her that shone brightly in every room she entered. Known for her giving soul, infectious happiness, deep and devoted commitment to her family, Joyce leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and love that will live on in everyone who knew her.
Joyce is survived by her devoted loving husband Doug, her children Cassidy (Kori) and Jodi (Eric), and her cherished grandchildren Brett, Olivia, Maddie, and Harper. Joyce is also lovingly survived by her mother Barbara, her sisters Lorraine (Don) and Louise (Warren), her brothers Dale and Bryan (Shari Jean), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, John Grycak, in 1982, and her sister-in-law, Shelby Grycak, in 2024.
A memorial service to honour Joyce’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Edson, on April 25th, 2025, at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Joyce’s memory to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
She will be missed beyond measure but forever remembered in our hearts.
