JOHN JAMIESON BOWEN
August 18, 1909 (Islay, Alberta) ~ February 26, 2011 (Jasper, Alberta)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved John Bowen. Jasper’s longest residing resident of 86 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 26, 2011 at 101 years of age. He was an honoured Second World War Veteran. He is survived by his four beloved children, son John Angus Bowen (Jackie), wife Helena and daughters Sheila (Tim) and Jennifer (Dennis) and three great grandchildren. Daughter Isabella Pelletier, husband Charles and their children Cindy and Jason (Dion) and two great grandchildren. Daughter Janet Laurie, husband John and their children Janet (Conrad), Robert, John (Ekida), Philip, Hope (Dwayne) and Anita and six great grandchildren. Son Murdoch Bowen, wife Diane and their daughter Celine, and his sons Curtis and Scott and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Verna Siga and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He is pre-deceased by his first wife Janet in 1963, Reine in 2003, brothers Chess and Hec, sisters Della and Edna. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday March 5, 2011 at The Jasper United Church with the service to follow starting at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at the Jasper Cemetery immediately following the service. Lunch will be served at the Jasper Royal Canadian Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 31, Box 850, Jasper, AB, T0E 1E0 and/or Evergreen Foundation, Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge, Box 320, Jasper, AB T0E 1E0, in John Bowen`s memory.
