DEKAM, Jannetje (Jenny)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife , mother grandmother and oma on April 4th, 2011 at the age of 72 years in Edson, Alberta.
Jenny was born Jannetje Jacoba DeVos on April 10th, 1938 in Colijnsplaat, Zeeland, The Netherlands. She was the middle child of 10. In April of 1957 she immigrated to Canada and she and her new husband Peter Dekam and settled in the Edson Area. They spent many years here in town as well as on the farm in the Pinedale area. She enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting and cooking. She will be greatly missed.
Jenny is survived by her loving husband Peter of Edson, Alberta, her daughter Nancy and husband Clayton Vanderkoo and their children, Shane (Ronda) Vanderkoo and their children Jenay, Clara and Ryland Vanderkoo; Sarah Vanderkoo and Ryan Vanderkoo; Sheena (Nathan) Strong and their children Morgan and Landon Strong; her daughter Marilyn and husband David Kirkpatrick and their son Steven (Nicole) Cressman and their children Vaughn and Lola Cressman and her son Dennis and wife Johanne Dekam and their children Talena Dekam her children Kaeysen and Audyn and Kory Boyko and Darren Boyko (Nicole Nanowski). Jenny was predeceased by her parents Kees and Neeltje DeVos and brothers Dig, Kor and Hank.
There are numerous other relatives and a host of friends left to mourn.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held on Friday, April 8th, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Edson Christian Reformed Church in Edson with Pastor Steve Rigby officiating. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date.
In lieu of other tributes, donations if desired may be made to the Hinton Community Cancer Centre, c/o Jane Herman, 1280 Switzer Drive, Hinton, Alberta. T7V 1V2 in memory of Jenny Dekam.
