The official obituary of

Janet Ann (Smith) Guimond

August 14, 1942 — September 9, 2026

Janet Ann Guimond (nee Smith), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was marked by joy, quiet strength, and a deep love for those she held close.

Janet was born in 1942 in McAdam, New Brunswick, and grew up in the Harvey Station area with a strong sense of family. She was one of seven children, blessed with four brothers—Jerome (Kelly), Dick (Maxine),

Leonard (Eleanor), and Lowell—and two sisters, Mary (Martin) and Terry (Lawrence). The Smith siblings shared a bond woven with affection, humour, and steadfast connection across the decades. Janet carried

each of them in her heart, cherishing the family story they built together.

Janet moved west in December 1961, a decision that shaped the years to come. She worked with dedication at North West Pulp and Paper until the summer of 1963, when she married Marc Guimond.

Together, they built a family filled with love which included four children Natalie (Chuck), Marc, Kevin (Joey) and Marty (Terri Lynn). She carried profound love through moments of joy and moments of sorrow, including the loss of Baby Marc in 1968.

Janet began her work at the Hinton Recreation Center in 1987, where she found deep joy in serving her community. She remained with the Town of Hinton until her retirement in 2017, cherishing the years she spent there and the coworkers who became lifelong friends.

Janet’s legacy continued through her grandchildren, Nicole (Brandon), Marc (Emily), Chloe (Sam), Parker (Brook), Keaton (Cameron), Carson and Kaden, each one a source of joy and pride for both her and Marc. She loved celebrating their milestones, and treasured family time spent together.

Her memory will continue to guide those she leaves behind—her children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and all who were blessed to know and love her.

She is remembered with gratitude, honoured with love, and will be missed beyond measure.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
