ASHWELL, Hugh Everard
Hugh Ashwell, known by many as "Buddy" passed away gently at the age of 78 on November 23, 2016.
Hugh was born in Edson/Wolf Creek area on March 24, 1938. At the age of 36 having lived as a bachelor, Hugh began a new adventure. On August 10, 1974 he married Barbara Beck (nee Jesse) who brought with her four children Wendy (Mike), Darcy, Gordon (Ronda) and Barbara aka Barbie (Andrew) ranging in age from 14 – 8 years. Barb also brought her Uncle Albert as part of the household. The family has multiplied giving Hugh 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who affectionately call him "Grampa-grampa".
He is survived by wife Barbara, and the family, his three sisters Gen, Ruth, and Esther (Gordon) and numerous nephews and their families as well as many cousins and their families.
He was predeceased by his father John (known as Bill), his mother Bea (Beatrice) and his brother in law Rick Olsen.
A celebration of Hugh’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 30th, 2016 at 11:30 am in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #51, Edson, AB.
