Garda Barford
1950-2021
On July 23, 2021, Garda Barford, loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Garda was born in Hamiota, Manitoba to Muriel (Bud) and Roy (Doc) Williams on June 11, 1950. She was the youngest of three daughters with whom she had a very special bond that started in childhood and continued throughout her adult life. Garda married her husband Ed (the love of her life) in 1970 and they had one son Eddie of whom she was very proud and devoted. She trained as a hairdresser and worked in that field for a short time before deciding to be a full time stay at home mom. Garda and her family moved to Edson in 1981 where she was active in and supportive of all her son’s activities.
Garda enjoyed being outside, people watching and was an avid reader. She was a very determined lady who spoke her mind and stood up for what she believed in. Family meant everything to her, and she took joy in supporting the many activities in which her grandchildren were involved.
Garda is survived by her son Eddie (Shannon), her grandchildren Regan, Ty and Colton, her mother Muriel Williams and her sisters Yvette Espey and Lillian Sabourin. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Barford and her father Roy Williams.
The family would like to thank Dr. Zdrill for his amazing care and support of Garda.
In respecting Garda’s wishes no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the sports programs at Parkland Composite High School or Stars Air Ambulance.
