CHWYL, Fred (Frederick)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, Fred (Frederick) Chwyl on Monday, November 29, 2010 in Edson, Alberta.
He was born in Highgate, Saskatchewan April 18, 1928; schooled in Rodef, Alberta, farmed in Andrew, Alberta, worked in Foothills where he met the love of his life, Helen Predka; and moved to Edson to work at Edson Motors in 1959.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen, his children; Cheryl (Larry Anderson) of Tofield; Dale (Bobbi Foulds) of Edson; John (Tim Grahn) of Edmonton; Jim (Sheri) of Hinton; Mona (Bruce Alexander) of Edmonton; Suzanne (Braden Robinson) of Edson; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his brother Nick (Louise) of Edmonton; his sisters Anne Walsh of Sherwood Park; Marie (Doug Brown) of Sherwood Park; Liz Orydzuk of Andrew; Kathy Orletsky of Edmonton, his brother Edward (Mary) of Victoria, B.C., his sister-in - law, Carol (Frank Jakubow) of Edson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Mary and William, and his brothers - in - law, Alex Orydzuk and Joe Walsh.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Dr. Willis and the staff at the Edson Healthcare Centre.
Funeral services for Fred Chwyl took place on Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 at 1:30 PM at St. Catherine’s Anglican Church, Edson, AB. with Rev.Joyce Mellor officiating. Interment followed in the Glenwood Cemetery, Edson, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edson Healthcare Centre, Palliative Care, 4716 – 5 Avenue, Edson, Alberta, T7E 1S8, or to the Cross Cancer Institute, Station 40, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 1Z2, in memory of Fred Chwyl.
