Van Zalingen, Femia Maria
Femia Maria Van Zalingen of Hinton went to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 23 2010, with her family by her side. Femia was 74 and is survived by her loving husband Henry; children Sylvia (Ray), Jeannette (Mel), and Henry (Tracy); grandsons André, Benjamin, Matthew, Stuart, Jason and Jack; and numerous relatives in the Netherlands and Turkey.
Raised in Nunspeet, the Netherlands, Femia was educated as a teacher in both the US and Netherlands. She met her husband Henry while teaching in the Netherlands and followed him to Canada in 1961, where they married. Henry and Femia spent 48 wonderful years in Hinton raising their children, enjoying the outdoors, and later enjoying visits with their grandchildren. Henry and Femia loved to travel and camp together, taking many trips through BC and western Canada. Femia was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and placed her family before herself. She will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place, and her ashes will be interred at a private family gathering.
