Eleanor Smith
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Eleanor May Geneva Smith (nee Byers) of Hinton, AB on March 21, 2012 at the age of 72 years. She passed at the Royal Alexandra hospital in Edmonton after complications from lung surgery.
Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Leonard Smith; daughter Michele (Leo) and their son Garrett; son David and his sons Rory and Ryatt; daughter Alison (Brandon) and their children Colton and Shayla.
Eleanor is also survived by her sisters Joan (Cam); her twin Elaine (Andy); Sandy (Brian); Jeannie (Reg); and by her brother Bob (Linda), as well as their families and by numerous other relatives and many friends.
Eleanor came to Hinton from Tatamagouche, NS in 1960 to nurse in Hinton’s first hospital. She met Len shortly after and Hinton remained their home where they worked, played and raised their family. Eleanor & Len have enjoyed wintering in AZ for the past 18 years.
Eleanor was loving, giving and forgiving. She accepted everyone and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. We will miss her so much.
In keeping with Eleanor’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations if desired may be made to Hinton Health Care Centre or a charity of your choice.
