Edith Vera Walsh

WALSH, Edith Vera (nee Phillips)

Vera was born in Clover Bar, Alberta and lived there until early 1930. Her family, including her older sister Irenie and younger brother Raymond then moved to Carrot Creek, Alberta.

Vera married Elmer Walsh and by 1935 they had two children, Ernie and June.

Vera lived in Carrot Creek until 1952 when the family moved to Edson.

Her husband Elmer died in a traffic accident in 1965 and sadly lost her only daughter June in July 2015.

Vera continued on and lived in her home until shortly after her 100th birthday.

Vera was the consummate community person, ”volunteering” was her middle name.

The family tree still has many branches and more to come, leaving her son Ernie, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren as well numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services took place on Friday, February 26th, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Edson, Alberta with Pastor Steve Rigby officiating. Interment followed in the Glenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of other tributes, donations if desired may be made to the Senior’s Pioneer Cabin 4836 – 7th Ave., Edson, Alberta – T7E 1K8 or to the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Edith Vera Walsh.
