Dorothy “Dot” Gering
November 5, 1936 – November 7, 2017
Mrs. Dorothy Gering of Edson, Alberta passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Dorothy was born at Leduc, Alberta to Mary and August Posein on November 5, 1936 one of a family of 12 children. She met the love of her life Allen Gering and they were married on November 25, 1955. To this union, three children were born. In November of this year, Dorothy and Allen would have celebrated 62 years together. Dorothy enjoyed spending time bowling, drawing, painting, sewing, crocheting, reading, going for drives and playing cards. But most of all she enjoyed playing her guitar and singing. She was well known for her love of baking and always made sure no one ever left her house hungry. Dorothy always had a smile on her face and much laughter to share. Her favourite advice was “Just do the best you can!” Her heartwarming smile and kind generosity will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Dorothy will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her loving husband Allen, her much loved children; Marlene (Rod), Donna (Jim) and Cindy (Bruce) and by her grandchildren; Carmen, Nolan, Candice and Tracy, great–grandchildren; Turner, Connor, Noah, Lily, Ruby, Hunter, Vanessa, Hannah, and Gideon. Dorothy is also survived by siblings Ronny, Stan, Emma, Evelyn, Val, Irene and all of their families. Dorothy was predeceased by her great-grandchild Emma Lea, as well as siblings Dennis, Rhienhold, Myrtle, Addie and Joyce. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Dorothy, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society 10531 Kingsway Ave. Edmonton, Alberta T5H 4K1. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Edson Branch # 51 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev.
