BOWNESS, Bernard Norman
August 18, 1928 – November 18, 2013
Bernard Bowness of Shining Bank, Husband, Father and Grandfather, lovingly known as “Bernie” passed away November 18, 2013 at the Age of 85 years. Cherishing his memory: his wife of 60 years Gladys (Hellekson); his Daughter's Barbara (Chris) Bryant of Whitecourt, Berniece (Ken) O’Dell of Grande Prairie and Katherine (Ken) Roper of Caroline; Daughter-in-law Tracey Bowness of Shining Bank; 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren; Siblings Jean Roll of Armstrong, BC, Sumner (Hazel) Bowness of Peers, and Muriel Warren of Prince Rupert, BC. Numerous other family and special friends.
Bernie was predeceased by his son Bruce in March, 2009 and siblings Georgie and Horace.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph Ojedoken, Persa Kovich, Whitecourt Home Care and the Nursing Team at the Whitecourt Hospital for their compassionate care of our family during Bernie's last days.
Bernie's Family invited friends and family to the funeral service on November 23 at 1:00 PM at the Edson Legion. Time of fellowship and refreshments followed. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Whitecourt Palliative Care, 20 Sunset Blvd, Whitecourt, Alberta, T7S 1M8 in appreciation of their care.
