Alberta Violet Petty
1914 - 2016
It is with great sadness that the family of Alberta Violet Petty announce her passing on December 20, 2016 at the age of 102 years.
Alberta moved to the Pioneer area from Drumheller, Alberta in 1930 with her parents Lewis and Violet Haitt. Here she met and married Edward Petty who was living on a homestead where the couple was to make their home and lived there until 1942. It was then that they moved to Edson, Alberta. In 1966, they bought land at Jocks Flats and resided there for many years.
Alberta is survived by her 2 sons Daniel (Ouita) Petty and Francis (Susan) Petty and by 3 daughters Violet (Ray) Gideon, Alison (Bill) Velicho and Eve (Bob) Rideout. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 46 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Lewis and Violet Hiatt, her husband Edward Petty, 2 daughters Inza Williams and Alberta Petty, 2 sons Roy Petty and Glenn Petty, 2 grandchildren and by 4 great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at St. Catherine’s Anglican Church in Edson, Alberta on December 28, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Ann J. Salmon officiating. A reception and fellowship followed at the Edson Legion Hall.
