Yvonne Marie (Belley) Rivard

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Marie Belley Rivard, who passed peacefully at the Edson Hospital on August 22, 2025, at the age of 83, with her daughter Louise at her side. She was a resident of Parkland Lodge in Edson, Alberta.

Yvonne was born on February 22, 1942. in Edmonton, Alberta, to Thomas and Sylvia Inez Belley. She grew up near Beaumont with her sister, Sylvia Rainbird, and attended the convent Soeur de l'Assomption for grades 1-4, spending weekends with her beloved Aunt Simone. She continued her schooling in Beaumont and later high school in Leduc.

In November of 1959, Yvonne married Henri Rivard in Beaumont, Alberta. Together, they raised four children while building a life rooted in farming, family, and community. Yvonne also worked at the Beaumont Credit Union and Post Office, later becoming a camp cook before being hired by Revenue Canada in downtown Edmonton.

Yvonne was a gifted and passionate artist encouraged by her mentor Barb Mergaert, she attended a pivotal workshop in 1992 in Jasper with Maxine Masterfield, where she truly began to "spread her wings." From there, her talent flourished. She held several art exhibits across Edson, Leduc, Red Deer, and Edmonton, won awards for her work, and sold many of her paintings. Her creativity and vision touched many hearts.

Yvonne is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren:

Robert and Brenda Rivard of Olds, Alberta, with their son Jordan Rivard of Olds, and daughter Janey Rivard and Bradyn Adams of Red Deer.

John and Dawn Rivard of St. Albert, with son Shane Rivard and Danielle Broatch of Edmonton, daughter Kailäh and Lucas Piehl of Edmonton, and their son Emmett.

Louise and David Baudin of North Rosevear, Alberta, with daughter Jenny Lea and Brendon Zaporosky, daughter Ryann and Landon of Leduc, son Johnathon Baudin of Edson, and son Marc and Chelsea Baudin of Edson with their daughters Charlie, Sylvie, and Wrenley.

Richard and Dianne Rivard of Edson, with daughter Chantel Rivard of Sylvan Lake, and Stewart and Katie Rivard of Edson, with sons Cohen and Lincoln. She is also survived by her sister Sylvia Rainbird and special niece Crystal Rainbird, nephew David and Joanne Fleck, as well as brothers-in-law Armand (Lucie) Rivard, Roger (Nanci) Rivard and Bert (Linda) Rivard. Yvonne will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, and countless special friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Lunch will follow in the church basement. Everyone is welcome to attend and honor Yvonne's memory.

Yvonne will be remembered for her creativity, warmth, and the deep love she carried for her family, she will be missed beyond words.
