It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma Maria Behrens. Wilma passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years at home on October 7, 2022 with her family at her side.
Wilma was born April 16, 1934 at Rat Lake, Alberta where she grew up on the family farm. She met and married her first husband Pete Popowich and continued farming in the Rat Lake area. Upon Pete’s passing she moved to Edmonton and worked as an accountant a Macleod’s Store for many years. In 1972 she married Fred Behrens and lived in the Edson area for 47 years where they purchased a trapline and were active in the Trapper’s Association.
Wilma was predeceased by husband, Fred Behrens, stepson Chris Behrens, 2 two sisters Ebba & Greta and 3 brothers Hans, Fritz and Bill. She is survived by step children, Grant (Vivki), Lois (Emil), Loren (Josie) and Randy (Shannon), 7 grand children and 12 great grand children.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Edson Legion on Saturday November 5 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and at the Lessard Hall on Saturday November 12 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Both dress casual or in camo.
