It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill McDonald of Hinton, Alberta, on April 29, 2026, at the Hinton Hospital. He was 60 years old. Bill was a loving husband, father, family man, friend and proud member of his community.
Bill was born on January 6, 1966, to Margaret and Edward McDonald, in Steamer Point, Aden, Yemen. He grew up with a strong sense of family that stayed with him throughout his life.
Bill shared 29 years of love and life with his wife Suzanne. Together, they built a life centered around family, raising their two sons, Jayden (Desiree) and Lucas (Heaven), whom he loved deeply and was incredibly proud of.
He is lovingly remembered by his Mum Margaret, sister Lesley (Maurice), his brother Edward (Lynnette), mother-in-law Diane (Dave), father-in-law Tom (Debbie), and sister-in-law Nicole. Bill also leaves behind many cherished Nieces and Nephews—Kieran, Kaylee, Ryan, Eric, Katie, Kylie, Kayla, Kira, as well as his great-nephew Cooper and great-niece Sofie. He had an incredible amount of extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.
Bill is predeceased by his father Edward McDonald.
Bill was not a quiet man; he was full of life, laughter, and energy. He had a way of bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome. He was deeply connected to Hinton and his community and was always willing to lend a hand, share a story, or brighten someone’s day.
One of Bill’s greatest passions was his business in the valley district for the last 24 years and the connections he built through it. He loved music, sports, roller skating, memorabilia and promoting events, but more than anything, he loved people. Bill loved the Town of Hinton and his recent adventure as Town Councilor was one of his proudest moments. It's with great sadness; he didn't get to fulfill his term and have the impact he wanted too.
Bill’s passing leaves a space that can never be filled, but his spirit will live on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Bill’s Memorial Service will be on Thursday May 21, 2026, at 1pm at the Hinton Centre.
