It is with great sadness that we announce that our Dad, William Lawrence (Larry) Sidoruk, long time resident of Edson, Alberta passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in
Edson at the age of 75 years.
Dad was born on October 18, 1947, in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, to Boris and Beulah Sidoruk. He had 5 siblings - Sonnie, Vera, Blaine, Connie & Lori.
Dad grew up in Spiritwood and even though it was many years since he lived there, his heart never really left. Business opportunity took our family to Grimshaw, Alberta, in 1980, where we lived for many years and made many friends. While in Grimshaw, Dad was a big part of the community, volunteering his time with the Grimshaw Huskies and minor hockey. He was actively involved with Greg’s hockey through the years, managing the team or working in the gondola announcing the games.
In 1997, after selling the Grimshaw Hotel, Dad founded and developed a furniture business in Edson, where he worked until selling the business and retiring in 2017. Dad would return to Spiritwood every summer and spend weeks at Chitek Lake. Dad loved to be in the company of friends and spend the days on his pontoon boat fishing. He spent a few winters in Yuma,
Arizona. He would drive his motorhome down there in October, and stay for 5 months, where he would golf, play shuffleboard and take in the happy hour in his RV community.
Dad was predeceased by his parents Boris and Beulah Sidoruk, as well as his long-time companion, Cheryl Wiart.
He is survived by his son, Greg (Becca), daughter Cheryl (Len), 3 granddaughters Kelsie, Carly, Paige and 2 great grandchildren, Amira and Owyn.
You suffered more than we could bear to see, now your soul can be free.
It’s never the right time to say goodbye, we will miss you, Dad.
As per Dad’s wishes, no service will be held.
