William (Bill) Fowler was born on June 25, 1948, to Walter and Margaret Fowler in Edmonton, Alberta, where he was then raised in his hometown of Edson, Alberta. After attending St. Michaels University Boys School in Victoria, British Columbia, he attended UBC. Bill then returned home to Edson where he worked with his father in running several hotels, including the Edson Motor Hotel. During this time, he also became President of the Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA). Bill would go on to work within the Alberta tourism industry for several years.
In December 1972, Bill married the love of his life, Fiona, in Aberdeen, Scotland, and went on to have two children, Claire and Malcolm.
Bill was an avid reader and enjoyed his time outdoors, fishing, and playing sports with his children. He enjoyed his frequent travels to Scotland to visit friends and family. Bill also spent countless hours on the rugby pitch as well as on the ski trails and hills. His love for automotives and history was also known to his many friends and family.
Bill was predeceased by his father Walter and his mother Margaret. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Fiona; daughter Claire (Lane); son Malcolm; and granddaughter Isla. He is also survived by his sister Fiona (Pete); and nephews Calum (Michelle) and Sean (Teri).
