"Your wings were ready, my heart was not."
William Blackley passed away peacefully at his home on 23 May 2022. He was 65 years young.
Bill was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, moving to Hinton in the early 80’s where he became the Branch Manager at P&H MinePro providing equipment, parts and services to mines all over Western Canada. He loved his job, and it was often said that “he bled P&H”. He just couldn’t see a machine down and his dedication made him a favorite with his customers. Later in his career, he made the move to Coal Valley Mine where he worked as a Buyer for 8 years, until his retirement.
Bill loved to tinker on old cars and trucks and always had a “project” on the go. Most Saturday mornings would find him at the auto wreckers enjoying a coffee with his friend and teaching his stepdaughter the finer arts of parts picking.
Bill met his future wife, Cheryl in 1995 and stole her heart after kissing her under her van while changing the gas tank. After the worlds longest engagement, they were married to great fanfare in 2014.
Left to mourn his loss is his beloved wife, Cheryl; his children Brent (Lisa) Blackley; “bundle of joy”, step-daughter Kiara Foisy(Scott Hunka), step-son Christopher Foisy, son and daughter Ryan and Megan Paliwoda and his daughter Laura Blackley. Bill is also survived by his brothers Ed and Lance and sisters Bonnie and Debbie, as well as granddaughters Kaci and Jesa Blackley.
Cremation has taken place and no service is planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s name to the Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCARS), or the Stollery Childrens Hospital.
Special thanks to Dr. Brad Martin for such wonderful care during difficult circumstances.
