It is with deep sadness that the family of Wanda Haire announces her passing on December 1st, 2025, at 74 years of age. Wanda was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and moved with her family to Edson, Alberta, in 1956. She was a beloved presence whose warmth, strength and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her best friend and partner in life, Pete, of 52 years. She will be missed by her loving sons Darren (Leanne) and Tyler (Amy); and her treasured grandchildren Spencer, Abigail and Nolan, who brought immense joy to her life.
Wanda is survived by her brothers Rick (Dora) Sawatzky and Roy Sawatzky and her sister Tammy (Ken) Ramsay and numerous nieces and nephews. Wanda's memory will live on through her loving family and the countless friends whose lives she touched. Her legacy of warmth, kindness and joy will forever be cherished.
She was predeceased by her brother Randy (1975) her sister Joy (2008) and her parents Irene (2019) and Wally (2020) Sawatzky.
Wanda loved connecting with friends, entertaining and hosting parties. She was highly creative and made countless wedding and birthday cakes for her children, grandchildren and friends-each a labor of love that brought joy to all who received them. She also had a lifelong love of Elvis Presley, she proudly collected the entire collection of Elvis movies, often watching them repeatedly and enjoying them just as much as the first time. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her steadfast love for her family, and the many ways she made others feel cared for and welcomed. Her legacy of kindness, joy, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
After a remarkable 13-year battle with cancer, her family wishes to acknowledge her strength and resilience. The family also wishes to express their heartfelt Thanks to Dr. Schepansky from the Cross Cancer Institute of Edmonton for her diligent efforts in treating Wanda and giving her many unexpected years with her family and friends; to Dr. Aubrey for her compassion and ongoing care, to Dr. Gous and all the staff at the Edson Hospital, and to the ladies of the Hinton Cancer Care Unit for their dedicated support.
The family extends their gratitude to all who offered love, prayers and support during this difficult time.
A Public Visitation will be held at the Edson Foothills Memorial Chapel on December 8th, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will take place at the Edson Legion on December 9th, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
