Vladi (Hec) Siga passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Sept 13, 2023, at the Seton Jasper Healthcare Centre.
He was born in Calgary, AB., on March 12, 1947, to Valdis (Vern) and Verna Siga (nee Bowen) and when he was still a baby they moved to Jasper. The family soon grew to include two younger sisters, Vonna and Vaida. As a boy he enjoyed fishing, skiing and many mountain adventures with friends and family. Vladi completed high school in Jasper and later obtained his Education degree at the University of Alberta. His career took many turns, from liquor store manager and car sales to schoolteacher and heavy equipment maintenance.
Vladi enjoyed his music, reading and sharing memories of Jasper with friends. He was passionate about many causes, but none were as great as his concern for environmental protection and the welfare of animals.
He wished to thank Dr Slack and the nursing team in Jasper for their care and compassion. At his request there will be no memorial service.
