It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, son, and wonderful friend Vincent (Vinny) McKinley on January 23, 2024, in Hinton, AB. He touched so many lives in his short 59 years here with us. He will be remembered for his kind heart, loving soul and sometimes over the top humor.
Vince was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and lived his life to the fullest each and every day. He started arm-wrestling at the age of eighteen and carried that passion with him throughout his entire life, winning the world championships in 1987. He spent his earlier years on the East coast before settling in Hinton, Alberta in 2006. He also had a passion for racing anything with wheels and hunting with his father, a passion he passed down to his children.
His greatest accomplishments on this earth were his two daughters and his young son who he loved deeply.
Vince is survived by his best friend and parenting partner Leann Welch-Christenson, his daughters Britney Gravel (Brandon) of Hinton, AB, and Bianca McKinley (Alex) of Cremona, AB. His son Javier McKinley of Hinton, AB, his granddaughters Callie and Rhaya Walker of Hinton, AB, his parents Dan and Shirley McKinley of Hinton, AB, his sisters Vicki Garford (Marven) of Jasper, AB, and Nicole Fontain (Roger) of Spruce Grove AB, and his brother Danny Wade McKinley (Colleen) of Calgary, AB.
Vince is also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and an abundance of friends around the world.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Elva and Burton McKinley of Marysville, New Brunswick and his maternal grandparents Mary and Mowatt Hood of Stanley, New Brunswick.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Brule Community Hall in Brule, AB at 1:00pm on Saturday February 3rd, 2024, directly followed by a luncheon and refreshments.
