Ubert Seal Obituary

Edson, AB — Ubert Alva Seal, 86, passed quietly on the morning of Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Edson Healthcare Centre in Edson, Alberta.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosemarie (Seibert) Seal; his sons Clayton (Denise) Seal and Paul (Mimi) Seal and his daughters Loretta (Dennis) Larsen and Christine (Fran) Davis; his Grandchildren Lisa (Dan) Cote, Tina Kaskowski, Crystal Shaw, Joshua (Raylene) Larsen, Josiah (Savannah) Larsen, Tiffany (Ayla) Seal, Tristan (Maria) Seal, Ariel Seal, Quinton (Sadie) Seal, Lee Marie Seal, David Seal, Selina (Jessie) Davis, Schafawn (Gaetan) Davis; and Great-grandchildren Tamika Cote, Dalton Cote, Bethany Kaskowski, Mateo Kaskowski, Preston Shaw, Taylan Seal, Andre Seal, Ashton Seal, Cailix Kaskamin, and Madilynn Davis.

Born and raised in Fruita, Colorado, the son of William and Ruth (Boughton) Seal, Ubert lived his life between Colorado, U.S.A and Hazelton, British Columbia, Canada and most recently Edson, Alberta, Canada.

In his early years, Ubert served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 1953, and married his lifelong partner June 5, 1955.  Upon leaving the service, Ubert worked as a farmer, rancher, truck driver, and Port of Entry Officer until his move to Canada in 1972.

When Ubert moved to Canada, he worked as a foreman on an extensive cattle ranch for many years, and continued to ranch for 14 years, at which time he became an Owner/Operator of Seal Trucking until the mid-90’s. During his retirement years, Ubert drove school bus and then greatly enjoyed his passion for gardening, becoming known as the “Tomato-Man” in Hazelton for his outstanding and much-desired cucumbers and tomatoes.

Ubert Seal had a deep faith and ministered the word of God to all who had the pleasure to know him.  He was a kind, loving man with the ability to make everyone laugh.  He touched many lives in his 86 years, and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.  He passed down his gentleness to his family, who all loved him and stood by his side as he needed them during his senior years.

A funeral service to celebrate Ubert’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at 1:00 PM at the Edson Funeral Home.  A burial service to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be forwarded to the Seniors Pioneer Cabin in Edson, Alberta.
