It is with great sadness, we share the passing of Trevor Edward Sain, who left this world peacefully, with beloved friends & family, at his side in Hinton, on September 21, 2022, at the age of 67.
Trevor was a lifelong & proud resident of Hinton. Born, November 21, 1954, in Ocean Falls, B.C. He came with his parents in 1957, where his father was employed to work at Northwestern Pulp & Power. He grew up playing minor hockey, later playing with the legendary Hinton Hawks in the 1970's for a number of years. A skilled, hardworking player, he and his team-mates rocked the Arena on many Saturday nights. Trevor often looked back fondly to his time spent playing left wing with the deadly line with Aaron Galbraith & Chris McMasters.
A 1972 graduate of Harry Collinge High School, he embarked on his first of many "adventures" touring Europe with friend, Bob McVey. Upon returning from his trip, Trevor entered a pipe fitting apprentice, going on to be a tradesman in the mill until his retirement in 2012. He was proud of his craft and worked hard in his trade.
He loved the outdoors, and took many opportunities to fish and explore places like Wells Grey Provincial Park and northern B.C. He often reminisced about his beloved fishing trips with his dad to Clearwater, B.C., and later up to Slave Lake, where he hosted many guests at his recreational get-a-way, passing the time with them on numerous successful fishing trips. He took up hunting later in his life and was generous with the bounty from those hunts.
Trevor was an accomplished musician, known for his terrific blues harmonica riffs and unmatched ability to sing harmony. He was very humble about his musical talent, but those who played with him knew he had a terrific "ear", and his guitar skills and flair will be missed by those he played with over the years. He especially loved playing with his brothers in the Buffalo Band. The Buffalo Band, Clint and Kim Carignan, Brad Jones, were his true close "brothers" to him, and the band was "family".
Trevor leaves to cherish fond memories his parents, Edward & Lucy, sister Debbie (Mel) Benbow, nieces Ashley (Kevin) Heitland, Gillian (Doug) Bennison and numerous relatives. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, an easy man to like, he made many great friends. His wish was to not to be memorialized but to be remembered "as he was". We will miss his love for life and his love for people.
The family would like to especially thank Bryan (his other "brother") & Cathy Jones, Brad Jones, Clint and Kim Carignan and the many Doctors & Staff, at the Hinton Healthcare Centre & Community Cancer Centre for their care and compassion during Trevor's journey & final days.
