It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we announce the sudden passing of Tim Brown, 59, on July 10, 2025, on his beloved acreage in Hinton, AB.
Tim was a dedicated and loving husband, father, son and brother, and a loyal and true “best bud”, sledding partner and friend to so many. His big presence, quick humor and direct way of speaking his mind was secondary to his big-hearted nature and his unwavering dedication to his family, friends and work-family, and he was always ready to jump in and lend a helping hand. Tim had many talents. Besides his incredible problem-solving skills and ingenuity, his head-on approach to any challenges and “get-‘r-done” attitude, he was also amazingly creative. We will miss him to no end!
Born on June 13, 1966, in Halifax, NS and raised on the family farm in Brooklyn, NS, Tim learned early the value of hard work. He acquired many important skills working alongside his Dad and received the loving care and nurture from his wonderful and no-nonsense Mum, who was not beyond delivering the needed “kick-in-the-butt”. He ran paper-route already as a young boy to give him the funds for parts and tools for his never-ending lineup of vehicles he worked on, traded and sold. He loved the family gatherings at the camp with his many aunts, cousins and buddies, where there was no shortage of laughs and adventure.
Later, Tim moved to Alberta with his young son to start a new life. He worked different jobs as equipment operator and truck driver and he met his wife in Brule, AB. Together they built a life centered around their small family and their acreage. He started his own business, TimBr’ Enterprises, which turned out to be a multi-faceted endeavor. From wood working (Tim built unique and beautiful log furniture for a while), to contracting in trucking, equipment operating and consulting, to horse-hauling, to bookkeeping etc. he often quoted the slogan “TimBr’ Enterprises - we’ll try anything… once”. A stint in McBride, BC, rekindled Tim’s love for snowmobiling. Sledding in the mountains became his passion, and most of his conversations turned into that topic eventually. He worked in Northern BC and in various locations in Alberta as an oilfield consultant and later moved back to Hinton, AB, where he lived until his passing, that came sudden and way too soon. We are so grateful that Tim has made the trip back to NS to be with his Mum and Dad for a few days each spring in the last couple of years.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of just short of 23 years, Monika, his son Justin, both of Hinton AB, his daughter Toni and grand-children Logan and Peyton of NS, his Mum and Dad, David and Estelle Brown of Ellershouse, NS, his sister Stephanie (Colin) with Neysa and Colby and their families in NS, aunts and cousins and many close friends.
As Tim was never comfortable with a “big fuss” around him, we will keep this initial time of mourning within the close family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society in Tim’s name.
