Theresa Bernadette Deveaux

Theresa Bernadette Deveaux, 67, of Grande Cache, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, 21 November 2023.  Theresa had a long history battling cancer dating back more than 20 years. She died peacefully in her sleep at home of a brain aneurysm. 

Theresa was born on 21 March 1957, to Stanley and Georgina Deveaux, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

After graduating from St Michael's High School in 1973, Therea went on to study business at the University College of Cape Breton.

After graduating with a degree in business, Theresa held various retail jobs.  In 1976, Theresa married Art Barrigan in Glace Bay. They had one child, Francis Edward. They moved to Grande Cache, Alberta, to begin a new life together. Although Theresa was born in Cape Breton, she called Grande Cache home after more than 40 years there.  

Theresa flourished in Grande Cache and was very active in the community. Serving as a town councillor and a member of the Town Library board for many years. Theresa spent 30 years building a very successful real estate business earning many accolades.

Theresa was predeceased by her son Francis Edward (47 days old), parents, Stanley Deveaux, Georgina (McCarthy) Deveaux and a sister, Margaret.

She is survived by her sister Marie and her husband Michael Ludlow (Cape Breton), brothers Robert Deveaux and wife Nan (Cape Breton), Daniel (Brampton, ON) and Gordon and his wife Lisa Giammarco (Acton). 

Services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Grande Cache on Friday, Dec 01, 2023, at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the local hospital.
