It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Frances Teresa (Robertson) Heminger, known to most as Terry or Chick. She passed away peacefully on June 23rd, 2025, in Edson, Alberta, at the age of 79.
Terry, born in England in 1945, at the close of World War II, arrived in Canada with her beloved mother, Nora, a proud war bride, in 1945. Interestingly, her future husband, Tom, also made the journey on the Queen Mary, as his mother was a war bride as well—a serendipitous connection that would later bind their lives together.
Raised in Kenora, Ontario, with her parents, Nora and Murray, and her siblings: Dawn, Marilyn, Pete and John, she also grew up surrounded by the legendary Robertson Clan.
Chick married the love of her life, Tommy Heminger, in 1969. T and T, what a fitting nickname for such a dynamic duo! Their energy and spirit creating an atmosphere of fun and excitement for all who knew them.
They ventured west to Edmonton, Alberta, settling in Devon, where they would make their home welcoming their beautiful baby girl Hilary. Although they settled in Devon, their hearts remained in Lake of the Woods, and they spent their summers and retirement along the shores of the Winnipeg River. After Tom passed, Chick spent her summers at the coop on Longbow Lake, surrounded by family.
Terry is survived by her loving daughter, Hilary Walsh, her husband, Shaun, and the pride and joy of Chick’s life, her cherished grandson, Cyrus. She is also survived by her sister Dawn Rankin (Alex, predeceased) and brothers Pete (Sue) and John, brother-in-law Hugh Syria (Marilyn, predeceased) as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be forever missed by the Heminger family and dearest friends Betty and Lorne Murphy.
Chick was fiercely loyal to her family, always finding ways to bring joy, laughter, comfort, and unwavering support to those she loved.
Terry’s remarkable sense of humour, quick wit, and infectious laugh lit up every occasion, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Love, laughter, and resilience—her legacy continues in the hearts of family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family will celebrate Chick’s life privately on Longbow Lake.
