Sylvia Sonja (Jansen) McNally

Sylvia ‘Sliver” Sonja McNally was a caring and loving Mama, Gramma, Great-Gramma, sister and friend. She left this world January 7, 2023, at the age of 81 and now walks with the angels.

Born on February 7, 1941, in Blue Bell SK., at home, delivered by Gramma Anderson, Mom was 1 of 13 children that included 4 sisters and 8 brothers.

How do you sum up 81 years in a paragraph? You don’t. Those of you who knew Sliver will have your own memories to look back on and smile.

Mom was stubborn, opinionated and she had the biggest, most caring heart. She loved her children unconditionally and was always ready to listen, give advice and support in any way she could. Mom loved to read, she loved animals (except for mice..LOL!), she made the best corn fritters, she sewed, and my favorite is she loved to drive…fast! She worked hard and she played hard, and life would throw her many challenges and obstacles. Through it all Mom was a great friend to many and always made time to invite you in for a coffee, a cigarette and a chat. Her grandchildren and great grand children were always in her heart and thoughts, and she always made the time to send birthday cards and when she could not, she made sure that we (her kids) passed along the message that she was thinking of them.

When Mom was unable to stay by herself, she moved to Hinton, AB to live with her Son, Greg. Two fiery and hot-headed personalities under one roof! Greg opened his home and heart, and I am forever grateful. Mom was safe and warm and taken care of and the last 5 years of her life she could finally just relax and enjoy all the comforts she deserved. Greg, you are and always will be my hero.

Mom we will miss your laugh and making you laugh with our silly jokes. We will miss buying you things that you want, only to have you try them once or twice and change your mind! We will miss your complaining, telling us we drive to fast, always concerned when we leave the house that something will happen to us…Mom, we will just miss everything about you.

There were many years when we were not together due to circumstances, but you were and always will be our Mom.. Mama we will love you and miss you forever. Until we meet again…we know you will be watching over us.

Survived by her loving children, Greg Goulet and Deanne McCallum (Goulet), grandchildren: Reese Eveneshen, Johanna Goulet, Andre Goulet and Ayla McCallum, great- grandchildren: Hailey, Riley, Dominik, Justice, Blair, Blake, Damian, Max, Diesel, as well as her siblings: Shirley, Garry, Dennis, Donna, Dale ,Terry and Karen.

Pre-deceased by siblings: John, Ron, Elvin, Janice, Keith and her parents.
