When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a taller fence. In this way, Ray lived his life. Always cooking up a feast, he brought countless wayward souls into his home, offering them sanctuary from the woes of the world.
Ever called to the forest, rivers and lakes, he shared the bounty the earth provided him with those he cared for. He taught many of us how to tend plants, communicate with dogs, and let slide the pettiness of personal relationships.
Mentoring anyone eager to learn his trade, he helped countless young people find their stride.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, sister, nephews and step-sons, and by all those who considered him their chosen family. We know wherever you are, you are free; fishing, gathering mushrooms and preparing a feast for the ones you love.
