Simon Peter Boos

It is with heavy hearts that we wish to announce the passing of our father, Simon Peter Boos, on August 17th, 2026, at the age of 87.

He passed peacefully with family at his side.

Simon was born May 12th, 1939. He was the third of 11 children born to Wilhelmina and Peter Boos in Lutjebroek, Holland. The family immigrated to Canada in 1952. They first lived in Iron Springs, AB, then moved to Picture Butte, AB, in 1953, before moving to Edson in 1954. Other than brief periods away for work, Simon called Edson home for the rest of his life.

Simon met Rolande Rondeau in 1964, and they were married on April 24,1965. In January 1966 they had their first son Ronald, followed by their daughter Debra in1967 and son Anthony in 1968.

In 1966 Simon bought the farm in Pinedale from his parents and lived there until 1996, when they moved into Edson. Simon had a great passion for farming and had a very hard time giving it up due to health issues.

In 2007, Simon’s wife Rolande suddenly passed away. He never remarried.

Simon was predeceased by his wife Rolande, his parents and brothers John and George.

He is survived by his son Ronald (Doris), daughter Debra (James), and son Anthony (Karen) as well as 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Simon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family always brought him great joy. He was an inspiration to many and always had a kind word for everybody. He was always there with a helping hand for anyone in need.

We will miss his warmth, caring, generosity and genuine (sometimes mischievous) smile. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish in Edson, Alberta, on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at the Glenwood Cemetery.
