Sharon Steinke Obituary

On Wednesday October 15, 2025, Sharon Rosalia Steinke passed away in Olds, Alberta, at the age of 78.

Sharon was born May 20, 1947, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, to Lawrence and Rosie Moonen. The family moved to Beaverlodge in 1963. She met her future husband Wayne Steinke in Highschool, they were married immediately after graduation in July 1965. Together they moved to Dawson Creek, BC. In 1968 they moved to Mackenzie, BC. In 1978 she left Wayne and moved with her 3 boys to Grande Prairie and then on to Hinton in 1979. She met Stan Fagan in 1980, and they were together until his passing in September 2013.  She retired in Dec 2023.  After beginning her battle with dementia, she was moved to Ponoka hospital to see if there were any other new treatments that might help her. When Covid hit at that time, she was stuck in limbo at the hospital for nearly a year and a half because no facilities were taking new patients. Eventually she was moved into Seasons Encore in Olds, AB., where they took great care of her until her passing.

Sharon will be sadly missed by her sons: Rob (Edmonton), Dale (Athabasca) and Larry (Lethbridge) and Stan’s daughters Darla and Tracey. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and Stan.

A Graveside Service will be held on October 25, 2025 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hinton, Alberta, at 11:00 AM with Father Anthony Narisetti conducting the Interment.
