Ruth Edna Ward was born June 25, 1939, in Milden, SK. and passed away May 6, 2024, in Hinton, AB. at the age of 84.
Ruth is survived by her children: Linda Hill of Powell River, BC., Allan (Sheila) Ward of Kelowna, BC. and Richard (Donna) Ward of Hinton, AB.; grandchildren: Ryan (Keiko Tsuruta) Ward, Ashleigh (Jesse Gander) Ward, Steven (Kaleesha) Roux and Daniel (Kristy) Roux; great grandchildren: Peyton and Paxton Roux and Atsuki Ward; sibling: Katherine (Norman) Shenkarek. Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Richard Allan Hudson and her parents Clarence and Agnes Hudson.
Ruth was first a devoted mother and grandmother. She also loved sports and excelled at many. She belonged to several sporting organizations, including the Bighorn Saddle Club. The family dedicated their time to the club from 1965 to 1976. Ruth’s passion for curling and golf was evident to all who knew her. In the summers, if you wanted to see Ruth, you would either have to arrange to see her around her tee times or to take up golf and play a round with her. In her senior years, she spent her days watching golf.
Ruth had many friends and knew most of them for many decades. She truly loved each and every one of them. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will be having a private Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
