Rosie Cole (Galacz) was born May 1st, 1937, to William and Esther Galacz in Wakaw, Saskatchewan. Her early years were spent on the farm with her family and attending school in Porcupine Plain. While much of her family maintained the farming lifestyle, Rosie took a different path, choosing to travel and working different jobs that allowed her colorful personality to shine. She often told stories of one of her favorite jobs, working front desk at the Hinton Hotel.
While there will always be untold stories and some mysteries surrounding Rosies life, she will forever be remembered as an incredible grandmother. A grandmother who was there to listen without judgement, give advice and make sure you never left her home hungry. Her handmade blankets, embroidery and doilies will be cherished forever, as well as the memory of her constant laughter and smile that would brighten any room. Rosie loved a good cup of coffee, would never turn down a lunch date and always had a book on the go; she’s the reason many friends and family members are lifelong fans of Stephen King and murder mysteries.
Rosie passed away peacefully in her bed on October 28th, 2024, at the age of 87. She was predeceased by many friends and family members including her daughter Debbie, her son in law Harvey and Grandson Jarred. Left to mourn her are her brothers Willy and Andy (Beatrice) and her children Henry (Mary), Evan (Lausanne), Allan and Melanie as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will take place May 10th, 2025, at 11:00 am downstairs at the Hinton Legion, her ashes will be placed with her mother in Saskatchewan in the summer.
