It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roger James Parry, who left us on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
Roger leaves behind his loving wife, Joan; his three children: Stuart Parry, Janine Ellis, and Angela Evans; his son-in-law, Kelly Evans; and his twin brother, Robert (Anne) Parry . He was a proud uncle to Lesley (Graham) Dunn, Alan (Jen) Howland, Helen Thomas, and Martin Parry. Roger also leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance to ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members who held a special place in his heart.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Fanny Parry.
Born on June 23, 1943, in Leeds, England, Roger lived a life filled with love and devotion to his family. In 1974, he courageously immigrated to Canada, where he built a fulfilling career as an underground mine manager. Roger was known for his unwavering work ethic and leadership, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Roger's passions were as diverse as they were abundant—enjoying a pint of Guinness, savoring a fine Scotch, exploring investments, honing his culinary skills, hitting the greens for a round of golf, casting a line into peaceful waters, or basking in the tranquility of a beautiful beach.
His warmth and compassion united loved ones, fostering enduring bonds over shared meals, leisurely outings, and serene moments by the water's edge. Roger's life radiated love, dedication, and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
As per Roger's request, there will be no memorial service. Contributions in his memory can be made to Pine Valley Lodge in Hinton, Alberta.
