Gordon Murison

1942-2020

Mr. Robert “Gordon” Harvey Murison of Hinton, AB., beloved husband of Maxine Murison, passed away suddenly surrounded by family on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the age of 77 years.

Gordon was born July 28, 1942 in Winnipeg, MB to Robert (Bob) and Ethel Murison. He had only one sibling – a sister Jean.

Gordon achieved his schooling in Winnipeg, MB. He met his wife Maxine in Winnipeg Beach the summer of 1962 and married in October of 1963 in Winnipeg.

Gordon was a natural salesman and his sales career took him and his family across three provinces before finally settling in Hinton in 1971 to work for Hinton Lumber Co. Ltd. After a while venturing in to his own business of a Retail Carpet store. He also worked at the pulp mill as a lab technician for 9 years. During this time he became a Graduate Auctioneer and Appraiser.  Being a man of many hats he also spent time as a Realtor, Sheriff’s Officer, had a Retail Tack store and Snap On Tools Business.  Gordon loved the excitement of business as some of these ventures overlapped.  He took great pride in being a Fundraising Auctioneer raising money for many organizations and causes.

Gordon had a love for horses and the cowboy life which opened up many equestrian avenues from competitive showing to pack trips, brandings and giving riding lessons.

Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife Maxine; children Robert (Carol Anne) and Melanie (Nick); grandchildren Carl (Erika), Tyler (Samantha), Corrie (Greg), Keith (Carmen), Josey; great-grandchildren Logan, Jason, Kixtyn,  Kade and Summer; sister-in-law Kathie Kushnir; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents Robert (Bob) in 1967 and Ethel Murison in 1997; sister Jean Bell in 2010 and brother-in-laws Grant Bell in 2006 and Archie Kushnir in 2010.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church, 102 Sunwapta Drive, Hinton, AB., with Pastor Bill Bulger, officiating.
